Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Skoute.ai ("Skoute", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our website at skoute.ai or use the Skoute product research application (together, the "Service"). It applies to visitors, trial users, and paying customers.
1. Who we are
Skoute is a SaaS product research tool for ecommerce operators and dropshippers. You paste a product URL and we return scraped product data and an AI-generated scorecard and verdict to help you decide what to test next. For privacy questions, contact us at support@skoute.ai.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we collect through the Service, our marketing website, our emails, our ads, and any related interactions (for example, support requests). It does not cover third-party sites or services that we do not control, even if we link to them.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Account data
- Name (if provided), email address, and authentication identifiers (such as a password hash or Google OAuth ID).
- Account preferences and settings.
- Communications you send us (support tickets, feedback, replies to our emails).
3.2 Product usage data
- URLs you submit for analysis and the scraped product data and AI outputs returned.
- Actions you take in the app (analyses run, products saved, statuses set, notes added, filters used).
- Plan, entitlements, and usage counters.
3.3 Device and technical data
- IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and time zone.
- Log data such as request timestamps, referring URLs, error states, and performance metrics.
3.4 Marketing and website data
- Pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, and referral source.
- UTM and campaign parameters from ads and links that brought you to the site.
- Conversion events (sign-ups, trial starts, subscriptions).
3.5 Billing data
Payments are handled by our payments processor (Stripe). We receive limited billing metadata (such as plan, country, last four digits of the card, and subscription status). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
4. How we collect information
- Directly from you, when you create an account, fill in a form, contact support, or use the app.
- Automatically, through cookies, SDKs, server logs, and similar technologies as you use the website and app.
- Through analytics and advertising pixels, including third-party tools used on our marketing site and inside the app.
- Through session replay and product analytics tools, which record interactions such as clicks, scrolls, navigation, and rage clicks to help us understand and improve UX.
- From third parties, such as our authentication and payment providers, ad platforms (for conversion data), and infrastructure vendors.
5. Why we process information (purposes and legal bases)
Where required (for example under GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract. To provide and operate the Service, run analyses, manage your account, and process payments.
- Legitimate interests. To secure the Service, prevent abuse, debug, improve features, measure marketing performance, and grow our business in a way that is not overridden by your rights.
- Consent. For non-essential cookies, advertising and retargeting pixels, and session replay where consent is legally required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation. To comply with tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and other legal requirements.
6. How we use information
- Provide, secure, and maintain the Service, including running scrapes and AI analyses you request.
- Personalize the experience (for example, your dashboard, saved products, and entitlements).
- Send service emails (account, billing, security, product updates) and, where permitted, marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- Improve the product and website, run A/B tests, and analyze usage and conversion patterns.
- Measure and optimize advertising, including conversion tracking and retargeting visitors who came to skoute.ai.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
7. Cookies, pixels, and session replay
We and certain third parties use cookies, SDKs, tracking pixels, and similar technologies on our website and inside the app. These are used to:
- Keep you signed in and remember preferences (strictly necessary).
- Measure traffic, feature usage, and conversion events through analytics tools (for example, Google Analytics or a similar product analytics provider).
- Run advertising and retargeting campaigns and measure their performance through ad networks (for example, Meta and Google Ads pixels).
- Record interactions such as clicks, scrolls, navigation, and rage clicks through session replay or product analytics tools so we can understand and improve UX.
- Run experiments and A/B tests to improve the product and website.
Where legally required, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies and before activating advertising and session replay tools. You can change your choices at any time through our cookie banner or your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
8. Third parties we share data with
We share information with vendors strictly to operate and grow the Service, including:
- Hosting and infrastructure (cloud hosting, database, storage, edge functions).
- Authentication (managed auth provider, OAuth providers).
- Payments (Stripe).
- AI providers (model APIs that generate analyses).
- Email delivery (transactional and marketing email providers).
- Analytics and product analytics (for example, Google Analytics, PostHog, or similar).
- Advertising and retargeting (for example, Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and similar ad networks).
- Session replay and UX tools (for example, vendors that record on-site interactions for UX analysis).
- Customer support (helpdesk and ticketing tools).
We may also share information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, to protect our rights and users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will notify you). We do not sell your personal information.
9. Data retention
We keep account and product data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, tax, and security obligations. Backups and logs are retained for shorter periods based on operational needs. You can request deletion at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent for processing based on consent (for example, non-essential cookies).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email support@skoute.ai. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11. Opting out of tracking and ads
- Use our cookie banner or settings to manage non-essential cookies where available.
- Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
- Use ad-platform controls (for example, your Google Ads or Meta ad preferences) to limit personalized advertising.
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing message. We will still send essential service emails.
12. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. International transfers
Skoute is a global service. Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
14. Children's privacy
Skoute is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, by email or in-app notice) before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
